Back then it was one of the most awesome settings imo. Both Fallout 1 and 2 had an super atmosphere and giving you the sense of a world that was more or less lost.
Problem with old classics is that if you try and play them again today you will find them slow and ugly. So much has changed in those 12 years since they where around. Fallout 3 was actually quite nice, BUT they shouldnt have made it a shooter but kept the turn based combat.
